kelly + tavis expecting lucas

My favorite maternity session to date.  These sessions are my absolutely favorite thing to photograph hands down.  I think it’s a combination of things — I love to photograph couples, I think women are the most beautiful when they are expecting and the excitement between a couple is so undeniable during this stage of their lives it’s hard to NOT want to photograph.  Of course I love photographing sweet babies and children, but throughout the year I only get the opportunity to photograph about a dozen of these sessions so they really inspire me to want to capture maternity in a beautiful amazing way!

Meet the absolutely stunning Kelly and her sweet hubby Tavis!  They are expecting their first child, a son…Lucas!  Can you even imagine what this baby boy is going to look like with parents like these two?  Can I just say for the record that they are just as beautiful on the inside?!    I met up with them mid day on Saturday at one of my favorite locations.  From the clothing choices to the perfect location….I knew I was in for something special.  And, boy was I right!!  It was wonderful from first click to “I’ll see you 3 soon!”

Momma’s who are expecting……YES, YOU!!  I encourage you to do a maternity session!  Even if you don’t hire me {although, I *know* you wouldn’t be disappointed}…JUST do it!  Just look below….

See you soon H Party of 3!

hunter is 18 months

I have been photographing this cutie since he was brand new!  And, I sure can’t believe 18 months later we are still the best of buds!  Little man Hunter.  Just so darn cute I tell you what.

I traveled to Greenbrier early Saturday morning to visit with this amazing trio at their brand new home.  Hunter came straight to me so I knew I was in for a super fun session with a busy 18 month old.  For the record, they are ALL Busy at 18 months.  Every single one of them.  But, if they are all smiles then I know no matter how busy they are….it will be a successful session.  We spent some time in his bedroom, went out into a field for a few minutes, had some fun on a super cool red tractor, went back to the house for some down time, back on the bed to do some jumping and tickling, to time with dad while he played his guitar…and wrapping up the session with a little “this little pig went to the market….” in momma’s lap.  Such a fun sweet session.  A session I hope to repeat again soon.

Hunter man…next time I see you it will be June and you will be TWO!!  Please keep that smile so big and those eyes so bright.  I will see you back at your “home sweet home”  soon.

nora is 9 months

Oh my goodness can you even handle the cuteness from this sweet girl?  Holy Moly Nora was on a roll at her 9 month session last Friday.  Even her serious faces that produced the cutest pouts…I just couldn’t stand it!

I met mom and Nora at a family members home out in Rockvale.  Lucky for us they just moved in so the whole living room was empty with a beautiful wood floor and solid colored walls with the the best window light ever!  Perfect for a simple fun session!  We did brave the backyard for a few valentine shots but quickly came back in to enjoy the heat.

9 months still proves to be the easiest and most fun of the first year.  I sure can’t wait to see what we do for 1 year.  It will be here before we know it!

Stay precious sweet Nora!

caroline is 4 months

Seems to be the new trend to do even months the first year instead of odd.  Sweet Caroline’s momma was one of my first {first year baby clients} to book newborn, 4 mo, 8 and 1 year instead of the odd — newborn, 3 mo, 6, 9 , 1 year!  If you are wondering if I offer that I do!  I can accommodate 3 sessions the first year.  All you have to do is ask :)

Anyway, I hate that I have to go 4 months every time to see this sweet baby girl, but boy does she make up for loss time!  Woke up right when I arrived, ate and was ready to rock as soon as the camera came out!  All smiles and bright eyes.  And, absolutely loved being close to her momma and daddy.  It’s the greatest, isn’t it?

So, next time I see you sweet girl you will be 8 months old!  Sitting up, probably clapping and definitely giggling!  Oh, that is going to be a site to see!  I just can’t wait!

sam is 21 months

Sweet Sweet Sam.  One of the most adorable and kind hearted young souls I have come across.  I have been photographing him for two years!  You may think I have my math wrong, but I don’t!  I photographed his beautiful momma when she was expecting Sam.  And, have photographed him almost every 3 months on the dot since.  But, this session was a bit different.  It was all about him.  Typically we have big brother and sister in the session, but not this time!  It was time to celebrate something wonderful…sweet Sam is starting to walk!  YAY!!  So proud of him.

I met mom mid day last Monday out in Murfreesboro.  One of the sessions I always look forward to because 1. I get to catch up with Emily 2. I get to see sweet Sam 3.  Emily ALWAYS has the cutest outfits.  Who ever said dressing boys was not fun IS crazy!  I love dressing my boys and I know Emily does too!  Any way, just like every session before this one I walked away so happy.  They are always so stress free and fun!

Sure can’t believe you will be TWO in 3 months.  Gosh, where does the time go?  And, like I told your mom when we are saying our goodbyes…You will be running away from me next time I see you!!  But, that’s when the real fun begins!!

See you soon sweet Sam!  I sure do adore you!

charlotte + audrey are 3 months

This beautiful family is definitely up there on the list of “I sure can’t wait to see y’all every 3 months”.  Sweet Audrey and Charlotte turned 3 months old and it was time for me to visit them again!!  Yay for me!   I have known mom for some time now.  See, these sweet parents are the amazing artists behind Lotus Blossom Photography!  You need a wedding photographer?  Well, if I were you I would look them up right now!  Tell your friends.  Tell everybody!

Okay, enough about how truly awesome they are {I wouldn’t lie you know that!}…let’s get to the real reason I am in their lives right now!  I get to capture them as a family.  How amazing for me, huh?  And, when it comes to 3 month sessions with just one baby you just never know how they are going to go.  I always hope for the best.  Typically you have a good 30 minutes before they crash.  Try keeping two of them happy happy for an entire session!  Mom and Dad proved to be a great team.  We would start with Audrey while dad fed Charlotte, go to Charlotte….then Audrey got hungry and then tired.  Now it was Charlotte’s turn to get hungry…then tired.  They had a great power nap and then up again!  Happy Happy for a solid 20 or so minutes and tired again!  It’s the name of the game at this age, but OH, so fun!  MY favorite moments were the ones of them just being parents.  These two are such amazing photographers they can photograph these two beauties all day long, but who picks up the camera when the girls are on the changing table or when one needs to be fed?  Or, when they are all four on the couch just taking it all in…and, well…trying to get a nap in?  Those moments are the best.

I have the most amazing job ever.  Not just because I am a photographer.  Because I am a family photographer.  Everything I witness is a blessing.

Sweet girls, the next time Ms Sara sees you you will have grown a lot and most likely be sitting up!  It’s one of my favorite stages of the first year.  I sure can’t wait to see you come Spring!

jack is 9 months

My little buddy Jack came to see me early Saturday morning out in Franklin.  He just turned 9 months so it was time to visit with Ms Sara again.  And, boy was he HAPPY about it!!  OR, was it….something else?  Maybe a combination of things but one of those things had to be because his photographer is so silly…or funny looking?  lol

Jack has always been one of the most laid back chill babies since newborn so it was so fun to see his grins get real big and giggles come straight from the tummy.  It was adorable!!  I LOVED the clothing choices mom came with.  You really can’t go wrong with anything from Mini Boden!  And, I am absolutely loving stripes this year.  Who ever said stripes aren’t good for photography was crazy.  :)

Anyway, my babies are still happy happy this month!  It’s cold and sometimes dreary and they are all smiles!!  I sure am lucky!

Next up is the BIG ONE YEAR!  Where or where did this year go big guy?  See you soon my sweet sweet happy friend…..

fam(ily) personal blog

It’s been 7 months.  Seven whole months since my Grandma Sally went to be with the Lord.  Seven months ago that I would get a call that would change my life forever.  And, Seven whole months of being completely grateful for what I have, who surrounds me, what I have been blessed with, what has been difficult, all the lessons, all the struggles, all of it.  Waking up everyday since then *trying* not to take one single moment for granted.  Have there been days that I have failed miserably?  No doubt about it.  But, everyday I try.

Since my boys were babies we would travel to Murfreesboro every week to have lunch with my Grandma Spears.  No matter what we went.  Then life happened and excuses and work and other things kept us from visiting.  Then…7 months ago happened.  What in the world?  I was reminded in a very very difficult way that we are not guaranteed tomorrow.  No matter how healthy or young you may be it may be your time.  It may be your grandmothers time.  And, then I was reminded by Him that we all still have so much to live for and be grateful for.  There was still another Angel here on Earth.  My grandma Spears.  So, our weekly visits started back up.

Our visits are filled with soul food, hugs, laughter, sometimes tears, but always…ALWAYS…love.  I am so grateful that she is still here and that my boys get to feel her love as I did growing up and still do today.  There is something truly special about a grandmother.  Lucky I had two of the most amazing ones.

Someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.  Simple.  I want to be a Great Grandma one day….

lucas is 6 months

Oh, how I adore this 6 month old little boy!  Sweet Lucas.  He sure makes me work hard to get him to show me that precious smile, but it’s an hour or so I enjoy very much!

The Factory seems to be the place to be this month because the weather outside hasn’t been the best.  Although, I say that as I look outside to the most beautiful sunshine!  Anyway, I will be out there soon enough.  BUT, I wanted to get this guys sweet session up for he and his family to enjoy.  I asked mom what his favorite thing to do was and both parents chimed in “on the changing table”.  So, guess what…to his back he goes and silly sararose standing over him probably annoying everyone around but making one little boy smile so big!   Hey, it’s my job.  And, one I LOVE very very much.  Lucas finally caved and showed me his silly self.  I love that!

Of course back to his bum he goes because we needed to show how much he’s grown and serious boy comes back.  But, I don’t care…he has the sweetest “serious” face in the world.  And, those cheeks….just precious!

Definitely one of those families that I am so very thankful came into my life just 6 months ago!  Lucky I get to watch Lucas grow and Lucky I get to watch these two be such amazing parents.  It’s the best!

See you soon sweet boy!

kate is 3 months

Miss Kate may just win for one of the best 3 month sessions ever!  She is definitely at the top of the list for sure!  Momma timed it perfectly.  I arrived, momma was watching dad finish up feeding sweet Kate and then we were ready to go!  About 45 minutes later she was ready to take a nap, but for the entire time she was SO happy, SO smiley, SO sweet.

This age is tough only because they aren’t doing much and they have an extremely short period where they are willing participants of a photo shoot.  So, I know going in that I have a good 30 minutes.  Sometimes I get lucky and get an hour, but that is extremely rare!  But, this little bug.  I tell you what.  If ever she stopped being smiley mom knew exactly what to do so within 2 minutes she was ready to go again.  I love that Sarah already knows Kate’s sounds and cries.  Each sound has a different need.  You know that, right?  Well, it’s true!

Anyway, sure am loving that all the sweet babies this month have been so very happy.  Every single one.  I just love them all.  Lucky me to get to know so many and their sweet parents.

6 months is up next!!  If you are this full of sunshine at 3 months I can only imagine your personality in 3 months!  OH, I can’t wait!!  See you soon beautiful baby girl!

p.s.  HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!
