mtmc nicu hope & happiness commercial project 2011

So, I have been dying to do this post since the day I was asked to be a part of this project.  But, what would be a post without images??  Unlike SRP.  So, I had to wait.

A few months back I received a phone call from Leigh about a project she was working with the new MTMC on for their NICU waiting room.  Currently nothing covers the walls.  The project they had in mind was to hold a photoshoot with graduates of the MTMC NICU and show them living full and healthy lives.  Once the photoshoot was complete some of the images would be made into a mural that would then cover the main large wall in the waiting area.  Bringing Hope and Happiness into a room that needs it MOST!!  You can imagine the tears coming down my face as I was on this phone call.  IF I was to ever receive a commercial project THIS would be it.  It’s everything I stand for, I shoot for, I live for.

About a month after that I met up with sweet Angie and Erin at the hospital to walk the halls and see the room.  The project was real and it was going to happen and I was going to be the photographer for it.  I only told a few people about it and I am not really sure why.  Probably because anytime I talked about it I would get choked up.  Quite typical of me, huh?!

So, the emails started coming in from these sweet families that would participate in the photoshoot.  Their stories had my heart all over the place.  But, they each ended with “now, he/she is living a normal healthy life”.  I wish I could share their stories with each of you because they will move you.  And will give you HOPE.   I sure can’t wait to see the mural complete and be able to share it with each of you.  So thankful I had my dear friend Lara there to help.  I do believe that day changed her life as well.

Chandler, Chase, Caleb, Sydney K, Noah, Michael, Sydney G, Brandon, Logan & Kendri your stories will bring hope and your smiles will bring happiness to those who {like your parents years ago} need it most.  You are a blessing to so many.  Especially me.

Thank you for being YOU and allowing me to capture your true spirit for others to cherish forever!

All my Love, Sara

Perfect. You were the PERFECT choice for this project. You did such an amazing job and I know the parents are beyond thrilled with these results. Having a niece that spent 4 weeks in the NICU at Centennial I can relate to the joy that these parents have when they see their beautiful children holding a picture of themselves during a very hard, but promising, time in their lives. So tiny and helpless with all kinds of machines hooked up to them and wires everywhere, but yet the miracle of life is even more evident. You, my friend, are simply amazing! GREAT JOB!

    Sara,
HOW WONDERFUL! This really touches my heart. As a NICU baby myself, I feel so blessed to be healthy and whole. I was not a NICU baby at MTMC but at Baptist Hospital. I am forever grateful to the MD’s and nurse who took such wonderful care of me. I weighed 2 lbs 13oz and was in the NICU for 2 1/2 months- rough start. You pictures will be so comforting to all the parents worried about their sick babies. I work at MTMC so I cannot wait to see the final product. Congrats and great job! :)
